Rick Lodmell pursued art of one form or another since learning to play piano at the age of five. Music, writing and photography have been major sources of inspiration. A synthesis of them is reflected in his current work, acrylic on glass. Rhythm, lyric and visual viewpoint find a place here. A glass surface serves as reminder of the ephemeral quality of moments where beauty was revealed and the artist focused passion and energy to reflect it. Landscapes, water and organic forms provide the starting point and are replicated or altered depending on interpretation of the beckoning muse. Beauty seems better served when approached not as a thing to capture but, rather, as a form of giving (if one opens to it). The art arises from an agreement to not push but portray the beauty’s embrace, then let the work go stand on its own to be shared with others.
